Golf Karnataka State Inter-Club Championship 2024 - Edition 2
The second edition of the Golf Karnataka State Inter-Club Championship was successfully hosted by Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC), Mysuru, in January. The event brought together 15 affiliated clubs from across Karnataka for a day of competitive team golf and fellowship.
The championship drew 138 golfers from 14 clubs statewide. Each club fielded 4 players, with two competing in each of the 2 handicap categories, showcasing impressive participation and competitive depth across the field.The championship decided on the basis of the combined Stableford points from all four cards.
• Category A: Handicap 0–9
• Category B: Handicap 10–18
Following an exciting day of competition, Training Command Sports Centre emerged as the inaugural champions of the Golf Karnataka State Inter-Club Championship, taking the honours with the highest combined Stableford score.
Winners
Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club emerged as champions with a total of 127 Stableford points. Pilikula Golf Club (PGC) finished as runners-up with 125 points, edging Coorg Golf Links(CGL), who also scored 125 points, on the basis of the better combined gross scores.
Fellowship Cup
The Fellowship Cup was conducted concurrently, with two committee members from each Golf Karnataka-affiliated club participating. The event added a wonderful element of camaraderie and fellowship to the championship.
Gp. Capt. Sudheer Yadav of Training Command Sports Centre (TCSC) won the Fellowship Cup with an impressive 40 Stableford points, while local veteran Mr V. Prasad of JWGC finished as runner-up with 38 points.
Prize Distribution
The evening prize distribution ceremony was well attended by golfers, club representatives and guests. The championship trophies were presented by Chief Guest Dr. Rajendra K., IAS, District Magistrate & Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, along with Dr. Rohith Shetty, President, Golf Karnataka.
The Fellowship Cup trophies were presented by Guest of Honour Mr. Ramesh B., IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mysuru City.
Special prizes were also awarded during the ceremony. Mr. Vittal Bellandur of Bangalore Golf Club scored a hole-in-one on the 15th hole. Mr. Nagaraja Sompalli of MEG won the nearest-to-the-pin prize on the 2nd hole, finishing just 4 feet 3 inches from the pin. The nearest-to-the-pin prize on the 12th hole was won by Mr. K. G. Rajesh of Chikmagalur Golf Club, who finished 11 feet from the pin. These prizes were presented by Dr. Abraham Thomas, President of JWGC.
